The Sonny Katz Scholarship Fund
awards to high school seniors from
White Plains High School and Port Chester High
School to aid in their college-level studies
of the performing arts. It was established and named
by Westco's Board of Directors as part of the
celebration of the 85th birthday of Seymour L.
"Sonny" Katz, a founding member of Westco's Board.
Mr. Katz was a graduate of Port Chester
High School, and lived in White Plains with
his wife of 63 years, Constance. Their four
children attended the White Plains Public
Schools. Mr. Katz served as City Marshal
for White Plains beginning in 1971. He passed
away on March 21, 2008, at age 86.
Recipients of the 2010 scholarship awards are Rachel Benjamin, who is being
Plains High School, and Taylor Quinn,
who is being graduated from Port Chester High School.
